This petrol rationing book is thought to date from the "Suez Crisis" of 1956. (Note "Her Majesty" - so must be 1952 or later)

It is certainly from the time of the Suez Crisis when petrol was rationed. This was the only time that drivers with a provisional license were able to drive, until their license ran out, without anyone sitting with. I know because I received my license the day before the ruling came in so I had a great time driving by myself!
