Harry Smith's book "Hucknall - Looking Back" indicates that the original plan was for the cenotaph planned by Cecel T.Howitt the distinguished Hucknall architect, to be erected on Hucknall Market. This plan was not proceeded with, but the cenotaph designed by C.T.Howitt was unvelied on Titchfield Park on the 3rd September,1922. The unveling ceremony was performed by Brig.General Sir J.F.Laycock.
