Bulwell is the next town to Hucknall. Its close proximity has allowed residents of both towns to use the facilities of their neighbours.

There used to be two lidos adjacent to Hucknall, one in Papplewick now the site of houses on The Grange", this was a privately owned lido, but open to the public. The Bulwell Lido was owned by the City Council and is now the site of the Martin Swimming Pool.
Both were well used in the summer months, as well as the local swimming bath originally on Baths Lane and latterly part of the Leisure Centre complex on Linby Road.
