These four photographs show modern development in the west of Hucknall. Christchurch Road is a development of bungalows and houses adjacent to the Edgewood School, hence the name School Avenue on the fourth photograph. Christchurch Road, along with Polperro Way, Babbacombe Way and the roads and avenues off, follows the development of the Ruffs Estate just prior to and after the 1939-45 war. It makes the West Ward, the largest ward in the district of Hucknall.
