The Baptist Church was established in Hucknall in 1849. Their first purpose built chapel was on Gilbert Street (now the site of Hucknall Police Station)and is currently the site of a mechanical repairs garage (formerly Clem Munks)which is accessed from Derbyshire Lane. The Watnall Road chapel was built in 1902 and schoolrooms were added later to the rear of the chapel premises. The photograph shows the premises as they front Watnasll Road today with a "Shoppers Chapel" to the right, which is open daily for private prayer and meditation. The premises have been altered considerably over the years but is now has a light, airy worship area and modernised schoolroom premises which are used regularly by the Hucknall Pre School Playgroup.
