The former offices of the Hucknall Urban District Council were situated on Watnall Road, opposite what is now Ashfield Homes Office - which itself used to be the HUDC's Public Health Clinic, where the School Dentist used to be accommodated, along with Mother and Baby Services, etc. Behind the Council Offices, there was a yard which housed the towns fire engine (horse drawn at one time), the market stalls and minor road repairing materials. The offices ceased to be used after boundary changes and Hucknall became part of the wider Ashfield District. Demolition took place when the Supermarket was build on Central Walk, which is now occupied by Wilkinsons.
