The centre of the photograph clearly showz the 3 school buildings as they currently exist, although no longer used as a school. The original building on the corner of Spring Street/West Street was opened following the 1877 School Act, the others were built slightly later, but all have been used as infant and junior schools. Currently the original building is used as the Oceans Day Nursery, and other groups use the other buikldings. Whyburn School on St.Patrick's road was built in 1980 and children moved between the two schools until a final merger in about 2000.
