Wighay Road runs from the A611 (Annesley Road) down to Linby at the level crossing on the Robin Hood Line. Running off to the right is Knightsbridge Gardens on what was known as the "Bacon Springs Estate", the name being taken from the natural springs in the fields on which the houses were built. The roads are named after the local composer Eric Coates, eg: as well as Knightsbridge Gardens, Eric Avenue, Coates Avenue and Beardsmore Grove (after the local historian). To the left hand side of the photograph is Ward Avenue leading to Barbara Square originally council housing built in the 1950's.
